Dr. Kelli Ward released the following statement today following Senator Jon Kyl's announcement of resignation:
"Arizonans are grateful to Senator Jon Kyl for his deep devotion to service and leadership. Sen. Kyl exemplifies what the founding fathers envisioned in citizen legislators and we wish him all the best in his forthcoming retirement. In the weeks ahead, Gov. Ducey will be tasked with the responsibility of appointing a Republican to fill the seat and, as the future chair of the Arizona Republican Party, I am committed to ensuring whomever the governor selects is well-equipped to defend the seat in 2020 and beyond."
