Arizona Republicans keep chair, Democrats swap out theirs

Arizona Republican Party Chair Gina Swoboda will serve another term leading the party following her re-election on Saturday.

“It is an honor to be elected to lead our Republican Party of Arizona into the 2026 elections. The road to winning begins today – every vote, every precinct, and every campaign matters. As a united Republican party, we will continue to WIN for President Trump and all Arizonans,” Swoboda said in a statement.

“I believe that by working together, we can help our Republican candidates win up and down the ticket, promote our conservative values, and Make America – and Arizona – Great Again!” she continued.

The former elections official won the race 978 to 758 against former state Rep. Cory McGarr, according to the Arizona Republic. Swoboda was backed by President Donald Trump, and McGarr was backed by some members of the group Turning Point USA and other Republicans, as disagreements emerged over contracts and what election litigation to pursue, according to Arizona Agenda.

Longtime Democratic Party treasurer Rick McGuire was also replaced by Greg Freeman amid financial misconduct allegations, according to the Arizona Capitol Times.
