KTAR News: With 12,000 signatures, Kelli Ward officially on U.S. Senate ballot

Former state Sen. Kelli Ward is officially on the ballot for U.S. Senate.

On Friday, she tweeted a picture with boxes, volunteers and a message.

Ward, running for U.S. Sen. Jeff Flake’s seat, first announced her candidacy in 2016 after losing a primary race to U.S. Sen. John McCain.

Flake announced last year that he would not seek re-election, citing the “Trump factor” as a big reason why.

After Flake declared he would not run, Ward tweeted that Arizona voters “deserve” a stronger conservative in the Senate.

Ward, former sheriff Joe Arpaio and U.S. Rep. Martha McSally are the Republican candidates for the Senate seat. The winner of the primary will likely face Democratic U.S. Rep Kyrsten Sinema in the general election.
