Illegal immigration top of Kelli Ward’s concerns

Republican candidate for U.S. Senate Dr. Kelli Ward wants to build the wall.

“We have to secure the border and we have to build the wall (as) illegal immigration affects every aspect of our lives,” she said at the July 17 Payson Tea Party meeting.

Ward is running in the Republican primary against Arizona Congresswoman Martha McSally and former Maricopa County sheriff Joe Arpaio to fill the U.S. Senate seat vacated by Jeff Flake.

Ward, a physician by trade, has legislative experience after serving as an Arizona senator from 2013 to 2015. She resigned from the Arizona Senate to run against John McCain in the 2016 election. She did not win that election.

While in the Arizona Senate, Ward said she had 19 bills signed into law.

“I got results. I think that’s why so many people want me to go to Washington,” she said.
