Tempe, AZ – Emphasizing the importance of ensuring Republicans have the information they need to make an informed choice for US Senate, Dr. Kelli Ward today delivered a letter to AZGOP State Chairman Jonathan Lines reaffirming she will sign the Arizona Republican Party’s “Unity pledge” promptly once the state committee fulfills its responsibility of organizing debates for the Arizona GOP Senate primary.
“Arizonans across the state want to hear each candidate, standing side by side, debating the issues – for some reason my opponents don’t seem interested in what the voters want,” said Ward. “From fighting to secure our southern border and build the wall to protecting Second Amendment rights to standing against the establishment elites in Washington to rein in our federal debt, voters know I am the only conservative they can count on to support President Trump and push the America First agenda forward.”
“There is no unity when candidates refuse to debate, and I refuse to pretend otherwise,” added Ward. “Arizona deserves better and I sincerely hope Chairman Lines will join me in advocating for taking every action possible to educate voters on their choices for U.S. Senator prior to the election. I would be pleased to sign the GOP Unity pledge on stage at a debate organized by the state party.”
Fox News, NBC 12News, and Arizona PBS have all offered to organize and host national and statewide debates in recent weeks, even as Martha McSally and Joe Arpaio stubbornly refuse to participate. Ward is consistent in her efforts to organize primary debates, but so far has not received the necessary support from Chairman Lines, or the state party, who so far have declined to act.
In her ongoing push to give Republican voters a Senate primary debate, Dr. Ward’s new digital ad assures viewers that it’s not too late, asking them to share the ad on social media with the hashtag #TimeToDebate and visit her campaign website to sign a petition letting Martha McSally and Joe Arpaio know that voters demand and deserve debates.

Ward’s campaign has an unmatched grassroots network across Arizona and has continued to grow and expand national and in-state support.
Dear Chairman Lines:
Thank you for your efforts on behalf of Arizona Republicans as we go into these crucial mid-term elections. President Trump’s agenda is on the line and with it open House and Senate seats. The results in Arizona could determine the nation’s course over the next two years.
I agree with you on the importance of Republican unity in this year’s general election campaign. That unity is stronger and more easily achieved when all candidates are treated fairly, and Republican voters have the opportunity to evaluate the performance of all Republican candidates during the primary election campaign.
To date, despite the best efforts of multiple media outlets including Fox News Channel, Martha McSally and Joe Arpaio continue to resist participating in a debate for the open U.S. Senate seat. This refusal denies Republican primary voters the opportunity to evaluate where each candidate stands on the issues, and how they may perform in a general election debate with the Democrat nominee.
To advance both causes and support Republican victory, I will be pleased to sign your requested GOP Unity letter on stage at any such debate that takes place before the primary election and is agreed to by all three candidates. A fair debate, and fair and equal treatment by the Republican Party, will make more victory achievable and put our party in a position for success in November.
Dr. Kelli Ward
GOP Candidate for U.S. Senate (AZ)
